Child Welfare is a Safety Critical System with levels of complexity and risk that rival commercial aviation, health care, and nuclear power. Like pilots, surgeons, and engineers, the professionals responsible for protecting vulnerable children and repairing fractured families face high-risk, high-consequence, decision-making under trying conditions that often test human capacity. TeamFirst Solutions is a community of practitioners, leaders, researchers, and policy-makers who are committed to improving safety and reliability in professional Child Welfare. This effort brings together the latest thinking on safety promoting topics such as Quality Improvement, Safety Science, Human Factors Engineering, and Workforce Resilience.

At the center of this work are well prepared professionals working on psychologically safe teams. We believe that by putting teams first, agencies will significantly improve child and family outcomes while promoting staff safety and engagement.
